The Requirment

Barnwood Trust needed the external fabric of Overton House protected and presented properly again. Weathering had taken its toll on the render, the timber fascias, soffits and windows and the rainwater goods — and the ornate render detail and quoins to the front elevations needed careful attention rather than a broad-brush approach. The building stayed in daily use, so the works had to be delivered around occupants safely and with minimal disruption.

Our Solution

4CM delivered a comprehensive programme of fabric repairs and external redecoration, carefully restoring the building’s period features while keeping disruption to occupants to a minimum.

  • Full survey of all elevations to identify defects before pricing
  • Localised render and crack repairs across all elevations
  • Careful repair of ornate render detail, cornices and quoins
  • Fascias, soffits and bargeboards repaired and fully redecorated
  • Gutters and downpipes overhauled, refixed and redecorated
  • Timber window repairs, made good, prepared and repainted
  • Full external redecoration to every elevation 8 Mobile access towers and pedestrian barriers to keep the site safe

Outcome

A period building with its external fabric repaired, protected and fully redecorated — delivered without decanting a single occupant, and handed back looking as it should.
